What is Acne?

Acne is a treatable disease that results in inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions. It affects 89% of teenagers to some degree...
and many adults!

4.

What is "Acne Vulgaris" or Clinical Acne?

Acne Vulgaris is a self-limiting, treatable disease primarily in adolescents that involves the sebaceous glands. (Overactive oil glands cause Retention Hyperkeratosis).

The natural process of epidermal cells (particularly the stratum corneum), is to constantly shed and be replaced by new cells. When Retention Hyperkeratosis occurs, the cells do not shed. They stick to the surface of the skin and begin lining the inside walls of the follicles.

Acne Vulgaris usually involves a variety of lesions consisting of comedones, papules, pustules, nodules, cysts, and seuelaes, such as pitted or hypertrophic scars.

What is a Micro-Comedo and how does it affect Acne?

When cells build up inside the follicle wall, a small impaction is formed that is called a micro-comedo. Microcomedones are actually a mixture of dead cells, bacteria, fatty acids from excess sebum, and other debris.

6.

What triggers Acne?

Basically a blockage of the pores due to impurities. Also, Sebaceous activity, overproduction of sebum (this can be genetic, hormonal or stress related, or any combination of these), outside bacteria, cosmetic allergies, and other irritants like synthetic oils, detergents and fabric softeners.

What is the primary cause of Acne?

There is no known cure for acne. In our opinion, Acne is simply caused by a blockage of the pores with dirt and bacteria. This causes the build-up of oils, thus acne erupts. It is known that without sebaceous activity, there is no Acne.

What is the difference between an "open" and "closed" comedo?

The open comedo's orifice is open and the material is more compact.

The closed comedo forms an inflammatory process by the lipids rupturing the dermis. This results in an entire comedo mass breaking into the dermis and producing a full inflammatory response. This results in a nodule or pustule or a combination of both.

What is the purpose of Salicylic Acid?

Salicylic Acid is an anti-inflamatory, anti-bacterial, lifting agent that causes different degrees of desquamation (exfoliation). It's also a koratolic agent which helps the skin to regenerate itself and brings about a tighter, smoother, younger looking appearance.

What are the different grades of Acne?

There are four grades of Acne:

  • Grade 1 - Comedones with less than 30% present.
  • Grade 2 - Comedones and some pustules.
  • Grade 3 - Comedones, inflamed pustules, and an occasional inflamed cyst.
  • Grade 4 - Large pustules, cysts, inflamed nodules and scarring. This is called acne conglobata.

What is meant by the term "skin rejuvenation"?

Sometimes the term is used a little too freely with every skin care line laying claim to products that will do what every person wants - to rejuvenate their skin so that it is beautiful and youthful! I am referring to a process of regeneration that progressively slows down the aging of skin. When Salicylic Acid is applied to the skin in concentrates that will cause desquamation, the skin cells are stimulated and spurred into reproduction at a cellular level. This activity begins the process for smoother, softer healthier-looking skin. By exfoliating dead cells of the stratum corneum, new skin cells surface giving skin a replenished and fresh appearance.

There is no doubt about it; women and men around the world are taking advantage of an age-old method to create new, younger skin. The "fountain of youth" does exist in our hearts and attitudes, but we can capture the youthfullness of our skin with effective skin exfoliation and home care regimens.

To Treat Acne, we must address each of the following issues:
  • Keratinization - The buildup of dead cells in the follicle.
  • Decrease Sebum - and sebaceous activity.
  • Bacteria - must be eliminiated.
  • Inflammation - should be reduced.

Can Makeup be applied after a treatment?

Yes. However, please be sure it is oil-free.

Back to Questions

22.

Can I use Coresa products in combination with other acne treatments?

No. We strongly discourage this.

Firstly, there is no need to supplement CORESA products with any other type of acne treatment. Our system is designed to be a complete regime for eliminating acne, and it is very effective on its own.

Secondly, if you used other products at the same time, you would not be able to accurately determine which product was helping you and which was not.

Note:
Our products should not be used for six weeks after using RETIN A or six months after the use of ACCUTANE

Why is Salicylic Acid the preferred ingredient for acne treatment?

Salicylic Acid is the only ingredient recognized to treat acne safely and effectively in the low concentration offered in our kits. Other companies use combinations of ingredients (i.e. Proactiv uses Benzoyl Peroxide and Resorcinol). Resorcinol has been banned for use in cosmetics in most European countries!

Why can't I find your products in stores?

Until recently, CORESA products were marketed only to dermatologists, cosmetologists and aestheticians in Europe and Asia, who would administer the products to their clients after being properly trained by us.

But now, our products have been re-formulated for safe, in-home use. We are using the Internet as a means to reach most consumers in the quickest way possible, while completely informing them about our products via our web site.

We feel that the Web is a more effective way of educating consumers than simply loading our products onto store shelves and hoping that consumers understand why our products are superior simply by reading the packaging.

Coresa is currently in negotations to bring its line of Acne products to the retail market.

How many Anti-Acne kits do I need to be successful?

Every case is different. Most people are able to eliminate their Acne problem using just one kit. If you feel the need to go beyond that, you may order additional kits.

We recommend that you first try the RS (Reduced Strength) Kit and determine if that suits your needs. If you need something stronger, our Full-Strength kit can handle more severe cases.

You may also refill individual products within the kits if you run out.
